Star Vets’ History
Why did I become a Vet? I couldn’t answer that question at university and I can’t answer it now. It’s just what I’ve always wanted to do. I declared at the age of four that I wanted to be a Vet and that desire – I really have no clue where it came from – simply grew stronger the older I got. I spent four years studying zoology at Cardiff University before being accepted into Cambridge Vet School…
While it still remains unclear to our Clinical Director Emma why she became a Vet, she knows exactly what made her want to own her own practice.
I started my own practice so that I would have the freedom to treat my patients in the way that I want to. I want to ensure that clients are treated fairly, and that my team are valued and given every possible opportunity to progress and build their knowledge.
Established since January 2015
Since qualifying from Vet School Emma has gone from strength to strength. She successfully established her Support, Therapy & Rehabilitation (STAR) Clinic, now known as STAR Rehab in January 2015, becoming one of only a handful of vets to dedicate their time to this area of veterinary medicine.
At the time she set up STAR Rehab, Emma was already looking towards the future. She leased the unit next door and decided to join the two premises and open STAR Vets – a general practice for small animals.
Run by family & friends
Today, supported by her team of family and friends (Emma’s mum Nicky is our Financial Director), Emma is proud to be able to provide unrivalled comprehensive care for animals of all shapes, sizes and breeds.
Extra qualifications & experience
As well as being able to examine, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions in house, Emma also has a GPCert in Chronic Pain Management and Western Veterinary Acupuncture and is one of only a few vets in the UK to be a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist.
Emma also has a wealth of experience dealing with animal travel requirements. She worked in a zoo for four years and spent a considerable amount of time dealing with imported and exported animals. See how Emma and our team can help you with Pet Travel.
Whether it’s a routine check-up, a minor operation or additional therapy your companion requires, we’re here to ensure your pet has a long, healthy and happy life ahead of them.
