Health checks with our Vets & Nurses
We’re just as excited about new pets as you are –make sure yours gets the best start in life by coming to see us early on.
Raised properly, your pet will grow to love and respect you and will spend a long and happy lifetime by your side. However, whether your new companion is a baby or an older adopted pet, it’s important you take them to see a Vet as soon as possible to ensure they’re in great health.

How often should your pet have a health check?
At STAR Vets we recommend:
– Baby animals are brought to see us once a month until they are 6 months old; we then recommend you bring them back at least once a year. They will also receive a free health check midway through the year with our nursing team. Don’t worry, we will send out a reminder for when they’re due to pop in and see us again.
– Older animals on the other hand should have an initial check-up with a member of our veterinary team, before coming back to see us annually.
Benefits of regular pet health checks
There are a number of benefits to bringing your companion to see us regularly. As well as giving your pet plenty of opportunities to get to know our team and our practice (and give us time to squeeze in lots of fuss), regular visits also allow us to monitor their development.
Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other pets all have their own species-specific common health issues. The majority of health conditions don’t have any early obvious symptoms, so regular check-ups mean we can identify and treat anything that’s concerning, as soon as possible.
