Pet neutering benefits & procedure

When it comes to neutering, most pet owners think the procedure is only performed to prevent unwanted pregnancies. However, that is not the case. While your pet’s sexual organs are removed, therefore making it impossible for them to breed, neutering actually has a number of health benefits too.

Neutering (female spay, male castration) is considered the most responsible action to take if you don’t intend to breed from your pet. Additionally, it’s not just cats and dogs that benefit from being neutered, but rabbits and ferrets too.

About the pet neutering procedure

If you choose to have your companion neutered at our practice, they will be doted on from the moment they arrive. In fact, most pets don’t want to leave us!

All our Veterinary Surgeons have a wealth of experience conducting pet neutering procedures. We have a sterile operating theatre and up-to-the-minute monitoring equipment. Your pet will be given plenty of TLC whilst they recover in one of our fully air-conditioned and comfortable cat and dog wards.

The procedure is usually quick and relatively straightforward. In the majority of cases, pets are at home recovering with their families the very same day. So all you have to do is sit tight, and we’ll call you to come and collect your beloved companion.

Talk to us about when is the right time to neuter your dog, cat, rabbit, or ferret. Typically if you have guinea pigs living in opposite sex pairs, the male would be neutered.
